Machynlleth Broadband Project
welcome! croeso!

Welcome to our community project promoting Broadband Internet access for the Machynlleth area. The Machynlleth Broadband Project (MBP) is made up of local individuals, organizations, and businesses committed to seeing that we do not get left behind the high speed Internet revolution.

We worked long and hard and it has finally come. However, though we have been successful with this round, in 12-36 months we may need to do it all again for SDSL or the next big technological revolution. The overall goal is to ensure that there is a level playing field in terms of rural and urban economies, and that where you live doesn't automatically exclude you from the kind of communication technologies we take for granted more and more each day.

News Flash (01 Sept 2004) --- Broadband Has Arrived!

Great news. The date has finally come and the Machynlleth telephone exchange had been ADSL enabled. That means that everyone on the Machynlleth exchange (within a reasonable distance) should be capable of receiving Broadband Internet Access. I've been counting the days and am now just waiting form my supplier to switch it on. If you are thinking of picking a supplier, have a look at www.adslguide.org.uk for ISP comparisons.
